Second graders are continuing their research on recycling. After hearing a book about the topic, they had more questions and are figuring out ways to find the answers to their questions. They have looked at databases, created surveys, and plan to contact experts to help with their questions.
April 23 was William Shakespeare’s 450th birthday! Third graders are planning a party to celebrate. This activity requires them to plan, think about resources and information they need, and reflect on the process at the end. These are all skills that transfer to research and many other areas of their lives. They are very interested in this famous author and have enjoyed kid versions of his works.
Fourth and fifth graders will create a handbook to using the library that next year’s students will be able to use. They will work in groups to determine what is important to know about using the Lawrence School Library Media Center and come up with clear ways to communicate that to younger students.
