April 23th was William Shakespeare's 450th birthday. To honor this momentous occasion, third graders planned a birthday party for Will. The kids brainstormed the types of things people have at a birthday party such as food, decorations, activities, and music. Then, they tried to connect those to the Shakespeare theme. The kids looked at different books about Shakespeare and came up with some great ideas. They also asked Ms. DeAngelis for help with the music. The kids played pin-the-beard/mustache-on-Shakespeare, danced to Elizabethan music, ate bread and fruit, and recited some lines from Shakespeare's plays. We had a great time! |
